Finally…
After the Marvel Cinematic Universe made its debut with the first Iron Man movie back in 2008, the culminating main event of the saga has finally arrived. It’s been a long 10 years for Marvel fans all over the world. We didn’t think it would have been possible back then but, with the previous Avengers movies and Captain America: Civil War, Marvel has shown us again and again how they can surpass expectations with bringing all of Earth’s mightiest heroes together (or against each other).
And now, Avengers Infinity War certainly does not disappoint. Marvel and the Russo brothers have brought together Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther together to defend the universe against Thanos, who will probably be considered one of the best MCU super villains out there, in a story filled with action, drama, and that touch of Marvel comedy.
Always come prepared
Marvel’s recipe for Infinity War’s success can also be seen in how well they’ve planned their movies coming up to this. Each of the franchises definitely had a certain feel or theme that distinguish them from each other. But every single one of them definitely had elements that would lead them to one thing – Thanos.
Star-studded
Marvel and the Russo brothers did an amazing job with bringing the heroes together in playful and fun teams. We get to see Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) fight beside Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Spider Man (Tom Holland); Thor (Chris Hemsworth) finds himself with the help of the Guardians of the Galaxy (Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, and Pom Klementieff); Vision (Paul Bettany) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) meet up once again with Captain America (Chris Evans) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) who all find themselves seeking refuge in Wakanda with Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) against Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his army.
Overstuffed
One of the biggest fears people probably have about Infinity War is that there might be too many characters and too many storylines butting heads. How could all of these plots and characters find balance and work smoothly in one movie? If not done properly, it’ll definitely be chaos. But over the course of almost three hours, Infinity War brings everyone together and doesn’t leave anyone in the shadow of the other. Seeing all of the characters come together, after developing in their own movies, in a blockbuster where all of their defining characteristics are shown in an epic that takes place across several planets is probably one of the most satisfying aspects of watching Avengers Infinity War. There’s something for fans of each of the superheroes: from Iron-Man to Thor to even War Machine.
Let’s get real
Infinity Wars does not waste any time in showing that these heroes aren’t as mighty as we thought. We won’t throw out any spoilers but we know you’ve all been thinking about it. The trailers show glimpses of the awesome power of Thanos and now it’s not a question of whether someone will die or not but who and how. No one is safe.
Haven’t followed all 18 of the movies before this?
A number of people must be worried that you absolutely have to have seen every single Marvel Cinematic Universe movie that came before this. If you’ve seen a couple of the MCU movies, then it should be enough for you to understand where the characters came from and where the story’s headed. Seeing the ensemble come together in an amazing action packed movie was simply amazing. So for the avid movie goer, it works. For someone who’s followed all the movies or who’s a fan boy or girl, I can just imagine that it was nothing short of spectacular.
Screened in 4 languages in India
The movie is released in English. Since its opening in India on April 27, it has been shown in almost 2,000 screens in four languages: Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and English. So far, it is the biggest ever release for a Hollywood movie in India.
What’s next?
After watching the movie, you’ll be left wanting so much more (as always). But don’t worry; the next movies aren’t too far off. Ant-Man and The Wasp (Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily) is set to release early July 2018. Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) will be released early March 2019 and the movie will be set in the 90’s (before the Avengers ever met). And finally, the conclusion to Infinity War will release a year from now, May 2019. The fourth Avengers movie was originally named Avengers: Infinity War Part 2, but has changed since then and is currently untitled.
If the wait still seems too long, you have a couple of other Marvel movies that aren’t included in the same cinematic universe. You can catch Josh Brolin again as he plays Cable in Deadpool 2 with Ryan Reynolds which is scheduled to be released mid May 2018. Sony is also going to take a risk with giving one of Marvel’s most famous villains a shot as an anti-hero with Venom (Tom Hardy) which is set for an early October 2018 release.
On a scale of 1 to 5, I would give Avengers: Infinity War a 4.5.
