All of a sudden, a lot of people have just became gaga into drinking milk tea. In the past, people from some countries in Southeast Asia were only accustomed to drinking coffee, soda, juice ice teas and hot tea – a very American practice to say the least. But just a few years ago, different types of milk tea brands have been introduced and a lot of businessmen have become interested in investing on them, causing the milk tea madness in Southeast Asia.  If you have plans of traveling to Southeast Asia in search of the best milk tea brand you can find, here are your best options.

Happy Lemon
Not a lot of people know that Happy Lemon is a milk tea brand that originated from China. Its owners were obviously Chinese guys who were milk tea lovers themselves. They introduced a different take on milk tea and it came as a surprise to them when the Chinese embraced their concept and all of their different selections. It is because of the brand’s popularity that other milk tea brands in China flourished as well. Some brands include Gong Cha, QQ, Coco and Q-More.

Hong Kong-style Milk Tea

Before everyone went gaga over the flavorful milk teas of Southeast Asia, Hong Kong was one of the countries that served its own signature version of the milk tea. Basically, this milk tea is very much Cantonese in flavor since the greater part of Hong Kong is occupied by the Cantonese themselves. This milk tea is a bit strong at first taste and it comes in two variants – hot and cold. The cold version is usually served with a slice of fresh lemon while the hot variant is served with milk. Both are tasty but may not be appealing to those who have been accustomed to drinking flavored milk tea and the like.

Milk Tea in the Philippines
It is quite difficult to pinpoint which milk tea brands are the best among the rest in the Philippines. This is because a lot of business owners have opened their own version of milk tea shops and most of them are doing well.. In terms of flavor and taste, it is quite difficult to choose one over the other because this is something you can do only if you’ve gone to most of the stores and have tried a large cup of the same variant.

Happy Lemon, Serenitea, Moon Leaf, ChaTime and Gong Cha are some of the biggest milk tea brands in the country. But there are smaller ones that may be a bit cheaper but also taste great. Some of these options include Tea Symphony, Bubble Tea, Sip and a whole lot more.

Singapore’s Koi Milk Tea
You might be surprised to know that Gong Cha is no longer the leading milk tea brand in Singapore. These days, people can be found lining up for several hours just to have their glass of milk tea at Koi. According to a lot of people who have tried queuing up at their counters, the service is quite slow but it is really worth the wait.

Malaysia’s Cold Love Bubble Milk Tea
Malaysia is not one to leave itself out of the current milk tea madness. If you are visiting this country and you want to taste something truly worth your money, make sure to drop by the Cold Love Bubble Milk Tea that can be found in Selangor, Malaysia. Other than their milk tea variants, this store is also famous because of their other treats like the snow ice, Italian soda juices, XXL chicken chop and so much more.

Bobabits in Indonesia
Bobabits is a crowd favorite when it comes to milk tea in Indonesia. This store serves a range of milk tea flavors but the most popular product they are selling is none of than the coconut milk tea. What makes this tea tasty is the fact that it is made by using natural coconut milk. You can order this product as either cold or hot.

By now, you already have at least a year’s worth of milk tea adventure to engage in. Check out the different brands in different Southeast Asian countries and see whether or not you agree that these are the best indeed.
